All the information contained below is a general FAQ derived from the rules available in the SCCA RallyCross Rulebook. For any specific questions not discussed here, feel free to E-mail RallyCross@cfrscca.org and we will get an answer back to you as soon as possible.

  • What is RallyCross?
  • Do I have to be a member of the SCCA?
    • While we love to grow the community of the SCCA, and would love to have you join us, you do not need to be a member in order to race.
  • How do I register for events?
    • We encourage all participants to pre-register through MotorsportReg.com
    • You may also register on the day of the event at the Registration and Timing tent – please see the event details for when Registration will be open
  • How much does it cost?
    • $50 for SCCA Members
    • $70 for non-SCCA Members ($50 entry fee + $20 SCCA Weekend Membership)
  • Can I bring my street car?
    • Most street cars will easily pass tech inspection.  A RallyCross event is open to any fixed-roof, four-wheeled, mass-produced passenger vehicle (including convertibles with a factory hardtop attached, targa-types with factory panel in place,t‐tops with factory panels in place) that can pass safety inspection. If the Event Chairman after consultation with the Event Safety Steward determines at his discretion that a vehicle cannot safely negotiate the course, it may be excluded.  For a detailed list of what we look for during a safety inspection, please see the SCCA RallyCross Rules posted on the official SCCA Website.
  • Will I break my car?
    • While there is some risk involved in any form of racing, many of racers only have to replace maintenance parts throughout an entire season.
  • What Equipment Do I need?
    • You must have a helmet and a functioning seat belt.  If you need a helmet, we bring many sizes of loaner helmets that are free for all competitors to use.
  • What if I already have a helmet?
  • Is there an official rulebook?
  • What are the classes?
    • Vehicles are separated into competition classes based on their drive wheels (FWD, RWD and AWD) and how extensively the vehicle has been modified (Stock, Prepared, Modified).  There are also two special “Constructor” classes with very specific rules.  For determining the class of your vehicle, please consult the current SCCA RallyCross Rulebook
  • What is a Season?
    • A season is all of the races which are scheduled between January and the date of the regions annual awards ceremony (typically in December).
  • How do points work?
    • Points are awarded per event attended, and accumulate towards the total amount earned for the season. At the end of the season, the driver for each class with the most points is awarded the championship trophy.
  • How are points awarded?
    • We follow the standard CFR points structure, and accumulate points in the following manner:
      • 1st place = 25 points
      • 2nd = 21 points
      • 3rd = 18 points
      • 4th = 17 points
      • 5th = 16 points
      • …and on reducing by one point for each place until:
      • 20th and below = 1 point
