St. Lucie County Fairgrounds – Venue Information

St. Lucie County Fairgrounds hosts the majority of our events. The surface changes throughout the year from packed to loose rocky sand with patches of grass, can be smooth or rough, and depending on the recent weather can be extremely dusty or waterlogged and muddy. It is an extremely fun venue and can host some very, very long courses.

Address and Directions

The St Lucie Fairgrounds address will take you to the north gate, which is usually closed on weekends. We enter through the Vendor Gate on Peacock Rd, which has no address. Instructions are shown below:

If you have your Pilot’s License or BSA Orienteering Badge:

27.368051° North, 80.489021° West

If you were born before 1982:

  • I95 South
    • Take exit 129 for Florida 70/Okeechobee/Ft. Pierce following signs for The Lion’s Den Adult Superstore.
    • Your gps will try to get you to take exit 126 for Midway road.  It is narrow if you are pulling a trailer.
  • Florida Turnpike South
    • Exit 152 for Florida 70/Okeechobee/Ft. Pierce
    • There is one exit in the 90 mile stretch between the last cash exit in Kissimmee (242) and Florida 70 (152).  Make sure you have gas.
  • Last Mile Instructions:
    • Drive west on Florida 70/Okeechobeee Road for about 6 miles
    • Go straight at the traffic light at the intersection with Midway road.
    • Almost immediately, make a left onto Peacock Rd just after the large pedestrian bridge.  There is no light or road sign – this is an easy one to miss.
    • Drive down Peacock road for about half a mile to the only gate and take a left.  There is usually a rallycross banner on the fence. Sometimes we forget.
    • Follow the dirt road in the fairground to the right and look for all the dirty Subarus.

The turnpike is pretty expensive if you are towing a trailer.  When coming from Valdosta, take I10 East at Lake City to I95 South in Jacksonville if traffic looks ok.  It takes 5-10 extra minutes and saves you about $30 each way.

For the rest of us:

Nearby Food

  • The Highway 70/Florida Turnpike/I95 junction is a truck stop with all the normal fast food and casual dining options.
  • Pappy’s Pizza is pretty good.  Pick up some pinwheels or garlic knots too.  Call ahead if picking up pizza: (772) 742-4250
  • Downtown Ft. Pierce has some higher quality options

Onsite and Nearby lodging

  • Camping is $5 per night and RV hookups are $28 per night at the fairground
  • The Highway 70/Florida Turnpike/I95 junction has a plethora of choices
  • If you want to stay on the beach, the hotels in the Ft Pierce/Jensen Beach/Hutchinson Island area are mostly mom and pop style businesses.  It is tough to guarantee room for trailer parking even if you call ahead.
